Mind Music Soul: The Adventure of Stories was first created in 2022 with local walking and community groups from Glenboig, Kilsyth and Shotts areas as part of Art is Everywhere, a research knowledge exchange project between North Lanarkshire Council’s Arts Development team and the University of Edinburgh.
The Audio Story Company and Poet Lisa Kennedy were commissioned to engage community members in creative conversations and the outcome of was 2 beautiful audio stories that explore mindfulness and wellbeing. We understand modern life is hectic and sometimes taking a moment for yourself can be difficult. We hope our audio stories can be used when you need a little time to yourself!

Hello and welcome. We hope you’ve found somewhere comfy to sit or stand. Or maybe you want to listen, as you take a walk.
This is a wee pause, just for you. Wherever you’ve been and wherever you’re going, this is a wee pause to enjoy where you are now and how it makes you feel.
We hope it’s nice where you are, maybe there’s even a wee spot of sunshine. We know, it’s Scotland - we’re being optimistic!
Wherever you are now, have a look around. What do you see above you, below you, in front of you. Take it all in - the ground, the sky and everything in between.
Enjoy it. And as you do, don’t forget to breathe. Some deep breaths, or some soft breaths. Whatever you need today.
Let your eyes take in the colour and the movement around you. Enjoy being still while the outdoors is busy. What do you notice? From the tiny details to the bigger picture – from bees to trees, blades of grass to cloudy skies.
Let the sensations around you give you energy. Allow the colours and movement of where you are to fill you up.
Focus on the ground under your feet. Maybe your steps as you walk or your toes tapping the ground, your heels lifting up and down.
Can you feel any breeze on your skin? Let it move you however you want.
As you breathe in, do you notice any scents that stand out to you? How does it feel to breath in the outside air? Let your shoulders roll back and down. Let your fingers open and close.
Take a moment to focus on your hands. What can you reach and touch? What textures can you see and feel?
Enjoy your body being in this space, how it feels, how it moves. Whether you’re sitting, moving, walking or still. Taking the energy of the outdoors in.
Now find a wee spot of green to focus on and let’s take a moment to refresh and reset.
