Happiness Collectors Scottish Tour

The Audio Story Company, originally commissioned by Tron Theatre, in association with The Gaiety Theatre are looking for a performer for their audio-immersive family experience, Happiness Collectors.

About The Show

Written & Directed by Sarah Miele
Sound Design by Calum Paterson

Dramaturgy by Sarah-Rose Graber & Ros Sydney

Produced by Sarah Gray for Scottish Theatre Producers

The Happiness Collectors need YOU! The world’s supplies of happiness are running low, and they need your help to top them up. Pop on your headphones and join the Happiness Collectors on a journey of sounds and silliness to learn the best ways to collect happiness - and most important of all, how to pass it on!

Each audience member is asked to wear a set of wireless headphones for the duration of the performance. There is one live performer known as SAM (Special Agent M), who is a Happiness Collector Instructor and guides the audience through their Happiness Collector Training. The show is interactive and invites group audience participation as they are transported visit the jungle, the Antarctic, New York city, a beach, an Olympic stadium, and the circus.

The show has a running time of approximately 35 minutes and will be performed up to three times a day to young and family audiences in theatres and non-theatrical spaces across Scotland. There will be a touring team of two; one performer and one stage manager.

The Role

SAM is a new Happiness Collector Instructor whose job is to help train new Happiness Collector recruits. They may not always be on the ball when it comes to their job but are always very enthusiastic! Fun, silly and big hearted. The character of SAM does not speak during the performance, so the performer must be a strong physical performer with excellent movement skills and very expressive. The show does involve a lot of audience interaction, so experience of, or comfortable with performing for young audiences is essential. A full, clean driving license is desirable but not essential. Any Gender and Age will be considered. We see SAM as fresh faced with youthful enthusiasm.

Rehearsals: 3rd October 2022 - 7th October 2022, Tron Theatre, Glasgow.

Performance Run: 8th October 2022 - 23rd October 2022, across Scotland. With at least one day off per week.

Fee: £1797.00 (3 Weeks at £550p/w, plus £49p/w Holiday Pay); offered on a self-employed basis. Subsistence of £130 for company members based more than 25 miles outside of Glasgow for rehearsals and £130 per week meal allowance on tour.

Travel and Accommodation will be provided whilst on Tour.

Company members will be responsible for their own Tax & NI contributions. We are not able to accommodate flexibility in the schedule.

We will also be touring in Easter and Summer 2023; performers do not have to be available for all three periods to be considered, but we would be grateful if you could also indicate availability for the following dates

3rd – 16th April 2023

3rd – 16th July 2023
